A$6.50

Scabiosa atropurpurea

Uniquely coloured scabiosa with delicate creamy apricot/blush/ salmon pincushion flowers on tall, strong stems. The abundant 4-5cm flowers are a standout supporting bloom in cut flower displays - both in colour and pre petal burst, the “pincushion” adding structural interest .

  • Beautiful pastel peach with touches of blush

  • Great supporting blooms with structural interest and tall stems

  • Prolific bloomers

  • Easy to Grow

The hue of ‘Fata Morgana’ is a pastel apricot/ peach with a touch of blush and a deeper hue of salmon just as the petals begin to emerge offering a multi toned look. It combines well with many blooms especially celosia, dahlias and zinnias. Beloved by bees, butterflies and pollinators, this productive flower blooms from early Summer through Autumn.

PLEASE NOTE: We remove the brown seed husk from the seed making the seed easier to sow with a vacuum seeder and also ensuring a higher germination rate

TRANSPLANT (recommended) - Sow 4-6 weeks before last frost. Sow 2 seeds per cell and barley cover as light aids germination. We keep them warm until germination and then grow them out in our unheated glass house. Harden off and transplant outside after last frost. Although the plants will last through the season, the flowers do reduce in quality. If you are hoping to harvest through Autumn, successive plants are advised.

DIRECT SEED - After last frost. Successive plantings every 2-3 wks until late Spring gives best quality flowers and pods.

HARVESTING - For longest vase life, harvest flowers in the morning, choosing blooms that have just begun to show good colour in the pincushion phase with the first-second lower ring of blossoms open. Expect vase life of 7-10 days.
