Scabiosa 'Black Knight'

A$5.25

Scabiosa atropurpurea

Beautiful dark maroon, almost black, flowers on strong slender stems atop easy to grow, productive plants. The abundant smaller flowers are a standout supporting bloom in cut flower displays - both in colour and pre petal burst, the “pincushion” adding structural interest . ‘Black Knight’ is a standout in the garden and design work. Beloved by bees, butterflies and pollinators.

PLEASE NOTE - We have removed the seed husk which allows this seed to be used with a vacuum seeder or a direct seeding roller. It also has increased the germination rate!

TRANSPLANT (recommended) - Sow 4-6 weeks before last frost. Barley cover as light aids germination. Transplant to larger containers when the first true leaves appear. Harden off and transplant outside after last frost.

DIRECT SEED - After last frost. Successive plantings every 2-3 wks until late Spring gives best quality flowers and pods.

HARVESTING - for longest vase life, harvest flowers in the morning, choosing blooms that have just begun to show good color but are not yet open.
