Coriander 'Slow Bolt'

from A$5.25

Coriandrum sativum

Selected for flavour and bolt resistance, ‘Slow Bolt’ aromatic leaves add a burst of fresh flavour to salsa, guacamole, curries, sauces and seafood.

  • strong flavour

  • bred for resistance to bolting in Australian heat

Regionalised 5th generation seed bolted 11 days later in a 2022 summer ‘side by side’ trial against commercial varieties.

Works in a container. Once flowering, attracts beneficial insect.

Coriander thrives throughout the Winter in our Southern Victorian location. It is more apt to bolt quicker when the days are longest and in the heat of Summer. For continual leaf harvest, consecutive plantings can be done every 2-3 weeks.

DIRECT SEED (suggested) - Plant seeds when soil temperature is 20C at 10mm deep, 1 seed per cm. Firm the soil over the seeds. Thinning is not necessary, but a final spacing of 16-20cm apart produces healthy, full plants.

TRANSPLANT(suggested early spring) - Sow indoors 4-6 weeks prior to setting out. Plant 6-10mm deep, covering with vermiculite, and keep at 21°C for best germination. Transplant to the field when seedlings have 3-4 sets of leaves. Coriander dislikes root disturbance - we suggest soil blocks. Can tolerate light frost.
