Parsley 'Italian Flat Leaf'

from A$5.25

Petroselinum sativum

Giant dark green, flat leaves bursting with robust flavour on strong upright stems.

  • Upright Stems

  • Robust Flavour

  • Cold Tolerant

  • Open Pollinated

The plant is bushy, a vigorous grower and quite hardy in Southern Victoria. In addition to the culinary quality, Italian parsley will eventually develop tall stems that bear clusters of tiny, yellow-green flowers with an intoxicatingly subtle fragrance - sought after by beneficial insects and great fillers in mixed bouquets.

TRANSPLANT (recommended) - Sow 2 seeds per cell, 8-10 weeks before transplant. Seeds take at least 3 weeks to germinate – keep evenly moist throughout the pre-germination phase. Harden seedlings by reducing water and temperature for 2-3 days before transplanting.

DIRECT SOW - Sow in spring after the danger of frost has passed, about 6-10mm deep, 3 seeds every 15cm in single rows or 5-10cm wide bands 30-45cm apart. Thin plants 15-20cm apart.

NOTES - Grows well in moist, fertile soil. If planted in a well-drained location, it can normally be wintered over to produce a crop early the following spring. Mulch where Winter temperatures go below -18°C.Water during dry spells and side-dress with compost or a balanced fertilizer once or twice during the growing period, if necessary.
