Marigold 'Sparky Mix'
Marigold 'Sparky Mix'
Tagetes erecta
Beautiful companion plant for the garden with a colourful mix of bright double flowers in shades of orange, burnt orange and golden yellow - with an accent of bi-colour gold! Compact, drought tolerant with a long flowering season, we plant these with tomatoes and basil to help attract beneficial insects.
They look great planted in mass on the edge of a border and can handle full sun. Combining just as well in the flower border as the herb and vegetable, ‘Sparky’ is also a great choice for containers.
Long lasting in vases, it combines well with ‘Amethyst’ basil, ‘Mrs Burns Lemon’ basil and zinnias.

TRANSPLANT (recommended) - Start seed indoors in trays 4-6 weeks before last frost, lightly covering seed. Harden-off and transplant out after last frost. For flowering in packs, sow 8 weeks before desired bloom time.
DIRECT SEED - After last frost, sow 1/4" deep. 2-3 seeds every 20-30cm. Thin to 1 plant. Pinching encourages branching.
NOTE - High temperatures can cause plants to stall, and temporarily decline in growth and bloom. Deadhead regularly to increase blooms.
HARVESTING/VASE LIFE - Harvest when ⅓-½ of the flowers on a spray are open. Will last 7-10 days in the vase.
