- Valuable companion plant for vegetable gardens and borders
- Edible petals and months of vibrant colour through the warmer season
- Easy to grow - Heat loving
Red Brocade is a striking, compact marigold growing to around 30 cm tall, producing masses of large double blooms in rich mahogany-red beautifully highlighted with warm orange and gold tones. Freely branching plants flower early and continue blooming throughout the season, providing long-lasting colour in garden beds, borders, and containers.
As the flowers mature, they soften to warm burnt-orange shades, adding depth and interest to the display. Easy to grow and reliable, Red Brocade is particularly effective when planted en masse, where its rich colours create a bold statement through the warmer months.
A useful companion plant for the vegetable garden, marigolds are traditionally grown to attract beneficial insects and are valued for their nematode-suppressing properties. The edible petals can also be sprinkled fresh over salads or used as a colourful garnish. Wonderful for making marigold garlands as well.

TRANSPLANT (recommended) - Start seed indoors in trays 4-6 weeks before last frost, lightly covering seed. Harden-off and transplant out after last frost. For flowering in packs, sow 8 weeks before desired bloom time.
DIRECT SEED - After last frost, sow 1/4" deep. 2-3 seeds every 20-30cm. Thin to 1 plant. Pinching encourages branching.
Note: Prolonged periods of extreme heat can temporarily reduce growth and flower production. Regular deadheading will help promote a longer, more prolific display.
HARVESTING/VASE LIFE - Harvest when ⅓-½ of the flowers on a spray are open. Will last 7-10 days in the vase.
