- Deep purple, high-anthocyanin pods that retain colour when cooked
- Exceptional sweet flavour developed specifically for eating quality
- Beautiful wavy pods with excellent garden and market appeal
- Cool-season producer suited to extended sowing windows
Bred to bring more flavour — and more purple — to purple snow peas, ‘Beauregarde’ produces striking high-anthocyanin pods with beautifully ruffled edges and outstanding eating quality. Unlike many purple peas, the vibrant colour remains even after cooking.
For the best flavour, allow small peas to begin developing inside the pods before harvesting. The result is a sweet, rich snow pea with excellent texture and depth of flavour.
Plants mature in approximately 60–80 days, depending on planting date and growing conditions.
Depending on climate, peas can be sown from February through to late September. Peas germinate well in cool soils and thrive during the cooler growing season. While the plants themselves are frost hardy, flowers and pods may be damaged by heavy frost. Newly germinated seedlings are attractive to birds and rats, so early protection with netting is recommended.
‘Beauregarde’ Snow Pea is a licensed variety, and every seed purchased helps support public plant breeding and research at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Seeds from this variety may not be reproduced for resale, nor used in breeding projects without an approved licence.
