Long lasting, soft feathery plumes to plumed spikes in shades of blush, watermelon, apricot, vintage rose and the occasional lemon yellow.

Known for their masses of flowers, long vase life, visual appeal (fresh and dried), love of hot, humid and dry conditions and extended harvest period, celosia is a summer cut flower work horse!
The past two seasons we have grown them in a hoop house to give them extra heat - and they thrived from early summer through until mid-late Autumn! Hard pinching encourages ample branching and longer stems.
'Texas Plume Summer Sherbet Mix' seed came to us via Floret Flower Farm. Erin Benzakein received a pinch from famed Texan flower farmers Pamela and Frank Arnosky. We are grateful to continue the breeding work of both growers!

TRANSPLANT (recommended) - Sow 6 weeks before intended transplant date which should be after threat of frost has passed and night time temperatures are consistently above 10°C. Sow 2 seeds per cell - DO NOT COVER as requires light to germinate- a light sprinkling of vermiculite helps to preserve moisture around the seed without blocking the light. Celosia dislikes root disturbance. Thin to one plant per cell. Pinch when plants are 15-20cm. Succession plant every 4 weeks for continual large quantity of high-quality cut flowers – although one sowing will last the summer.
DIRECT SOW - Sow once soil has warmed to 20C. Sprinkle over soil of a fine tilth. Needs light to germinate so gently press into soil.
HARVEST/VASE LIFE - Harvest when blooms are the desired size – they will continue to increase in size as they head to seed. Strip 2/3 of foliage from stems. Expect a vase life of 10-14 days. Dries very well. Hang freshly cut blooms upside down in a warm, dark place.
