Combining the genes preserved for generations with the genus of Cornell’s public plant breeding from the era of Molly Jahn and Jason Cavatorta, ‘Salt and Pepper’ offers organic growers inbuilt resistance to Powdery Mildew and Angular Leaf Spot. Compared with ‘Boothby’s Blond’, ‘Salt and Pepper’ has a fantastic flavour and amazing productivity because of its in built resistance to disease.
The miniature black spines, that inspired the name and dot the white & pale lemon fruits are barely noticeable.

DIRECT SOW - Cucumbers are very sensitive to cold. Make sure both soil and air temperatures have warmed prior to planting. Wait until soil temperature is 21°C. Cucumber seeds will not germinate at a soil temperature below 10°C. And germinates quickest at 30°C. The longer it takes for the seed to germinate, the higher the chance of seed rot. Sow 2 seeds/30cm, 12mm deep, in rows 120cm apart. Thin to one plant 30cm apart.
TRANSPLANT - Sow indoors in 5cm pots, 1–2 seeds/cell, 3–4 weeks before transplanting. Keep moist and maintain daytime temperature at 29-30°C and nighttime 23°C .
Transplant 30cm apart in rows 120cm apart. Do not disturb roots when transplanting.
