Allium porrum
Autumn - Winter leek with a long, well wrapped shaft that holds extremely well in the field. The strong upright green, blue leaves make cultivating easier.
- Vigorous growth
- Good disease resistance
- Well balanced flavour
- Long, well wrapped shaft, holds well in field
Impressive well balanced, subtle flavour and a melting quality when lightly sautéed.
Vigorous growth and good resistance to disease. Slow to bolt as Spring approaches. Stores well.
Delft produced one of the heaviest leeks in our 2020 leek trial and sized up as quickly as and in some cases better than very popular market grower varieties such as ‘Tadorna’, ‘Striker F1’, ‘King Richard’ and ‘Bandit’ . This heirloom variety from Holland produced a large, white shank, longer the other Winter varieties, with minimal hilling. If you only grow one leek, we found Delft to be good from Autumn through late Winter, holding well in the field, and only developing a core in early Spring.
