Helianthus annuus
Delightful pastel, butter yellow petals surround a dark centre . An excellent branching, multi-stemmed sunflower great for cutting with single flowers to 17cm across on strong, 60cm stems and long vase life.
The colour is a soft yellow that darkens as it gets closer to the dark brown disk - and the branching habit make this a wonderful sunflower for cut flowers. Pollen bearing. Loved by bees and beneficial insects.

Direct Sow (recommended): Sunflowers dislike root disturbance. To avoid injuring the roots, start in soil blocks or direct sow. Sunflowers germinate best at 21-24°C. Sow 2-3 seeds per 20-30cm. Thin to one seedling per hole. May require protection from birds and rodents who love fresh sunflower shoots!!
Pinch branching varieties to encourage branching and longer stems.
Transplant: Start seed indoors in trays 3 weeks before transplanting into soil that is above 20°C. Use soil blocks to avoid root disturbance. Transplant out after all danger of frost has passed allowing 45-60cm between plants. Succession plant every 2-3 weeks to stagger harvest.
Harvesting/Vase Life: Pick when petals are showing but before they reveal the centre. Expect a vase life of 7-10 days.
NOTES:
Flower size and stem diameter are controlled by plant spacing, temperature, soil type, and day length. This day-length neutral variety is suitable for early and late season production.
